Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue
for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

BTW - Looking at your screenshots it looked like sub-pixel rendering was
set incorrectly (ie perhaps it was performing sub-pixel rendering
vertically instead of horizontally causing the blurred line along the
top and bottom of the font). [Sub-pixel rendering is a technique to
make fonts look great, it only works with LCD screens as you have, but
it has to be setup correctly)
