After inserting the medium I've started the erase process, however just a few seconds later I've decided it perhaps it will be better to select the quick erase option instead, so I clicked on the cancel button. The erase dialog closed but process continued with no interruption or any kind of notification. I left Brasero running until I saw that my disk recorder has become idle. Using Ubuntu 8.10 + Update: I've clicked the report problem option when the recorder was still erasing my disk, so the information collected was copied when Brasero was running and the drive was still erasing.
