Public bug reported:

Dell XPS M1530

Hardware:
Memory: 3.5 GiB
Processor 0: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5750 @ 2.00 GHz
Processor 1: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5750 @ 2.00 GHz

Release 8.10 (intrepid)
Kernel Linux 2.6.24-19-generic
GNOME 2.24.1

The fan is constantly running. I had the same problem in Hardy (8.04).

I added CPU Frequency Monitor Preferences to the Panel. No matter what
setting I choose (Conservative, Ondemand, Performance, Powersafe) - the
fan keeps on running full speed.

In the Synaptic Package Manager, I tried to have cpufreqd enabled while
powernowd is unmarked and the other way round - both does not work.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
