I do not get a login screen after the install of Kubuntu 7.10, 8.04 and
Xubuntu 8.04 on an Averatec 3280 laptop ( 3270-EH1 )
Both gdm and kdm will not display the login screen after install of
Kubuntu 7.10, 8.04 and Xubuntu 8.04.
The generic settings in xorg.conf do not allow a screen to display.
I solved the problem by adding
Driver "vesa" to the Device Section in xorg.conf
this allowed a login screen to be displayed.
