Public bug reported:
Hi!
computer info:
Dell Latitude L400
Pentium 3 "coppermine" 700 mhz
ATI Mobility M 4 mb
128 mb RAM
French canadian keyboard setting (legacy)
I tried to install Xubuntu 6.10 (final stable release, from the
alternate install CD) many times on my laptop, and it was always the
same issue. It boots up correctly, but as soon as the graphical Xubuntu
login screen it goes into suspend mode after a few seconds. When I press
a key to get it back from suspend mode, the login screen appears again,
and then, after 1-2 seconds it goes back into suspend mode.
The display seems to be all ok when I see the login screen, and the
mouse/pointer works ok. I can use the keyboard to enter a few
characters, just before it goes into suspend mode, but it does'nt seem
to be related to the keyboard (or it could be, but it does'nt seem
obvious).
I tried to install from the live-CD, but I had another video-related
issue. Although everything seemed to boot, no display could come up when
the desktop session was opening.
Please note that I've always used Xubuntu 6.06.1, I am still on it, and
this version always worked perfectly for me.
Thank you!
