Did some researching and got some news: I installed the Intel 2.5.1. driver from the ppa.launchpad.net Intel repository - it is not the newest one (as stated in my comment above) but... The sudden disconnects from X.org are still there. So there is still a chance that version 2.6.0. of the Intel driver may solve the problem. I personally will wait until it appears inside the mentioned repository.
But better news: In this thread: <https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video- intel/+bug/292761/comments/22> Cosmin Roman described a workaround: He disabled any other video output which xrandr is able to detect beside the LVDS (the built in Laptop screen) and this way he got (also) rid of the X crashing (so he stated this in his next comment). Sounds logical to me - but as I sometimes need different outputs it's not a premium solution, you know :) Greets, Herr Irrtum -- [i855] False Monitor Detection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/292788 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
