Hello, I don't have access to the original notebook, but I juste received a similar one with the same problem on 8.10.
Just tested it with Jaunty Alpha3, and there the network works fine. Also a boot to Jaunty works like a boot to Vista : if I reboot from there to 8.10, the network works fine.
