The upstream patch referenced appears to be in the upcoming Jaunty kernel. If you'd like to test the latest pre-release of Jaunty 9.04 (currently Alpha3) refer to http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/jaunty/ . I'll also open an Intrepid nomination to consider for backporting. Thanks.

This is possible whenever debugfs fails for whatever reason; one reason is a race condition in mac80211, unfortunately we cannot do much about it, so just document it, it just means some station may be missing from debugfs.
