When executing "uuidgen -t", the clock_seq_low field (field #4) is
identical each time:
$ uuidgen -t
8b05a032-ed0c-11dd-8b2b-000475e441b9
$ uuidgen -t
8bfd3c5c-ed0c-11dd-8b2b-000475e441b9
$ uuidgen -t
8cce8d98-ed0c-11dd-8b2b-000475e441b9
$ uuidgen -t
8da06ca0-ed0c-11dd-8b2b-000475e441b9
$ uuidgen -t
8e799ca0-ed0c-11dd-8b2b-000475e441b9
This will increase the chance of a fast machine generating duplicate
UUIDs. I asked someone on irc to test it, and even though the fourth
field was different from mine, it was still repeating itself. This seems
specific to the 8.10 release, I don't think this behaviour happened in
8.04, though I'm not 100% sure.
