Public bug reported:
Xubuntu 8.04 installed succesfuly from CDROM disc downloaded but on starting no
CD Rom drive shown on desktop. If a CD is inserted (Audio or Data) the drive
spins but then stops and nothing happens.
If there is a CD in the drive when Xubuntu is booted up Desktop displays the
CDROM drive if it is a data CD along with the file structure.
If it is an audio disc the Player associated with the drive does not start
automatically. On ejecting and re-inserting the audio CD the associated player
opens automatically.
Floppy drive is shown correctly, as is hard drive.
Obviously current workaround is to always leave a CD in the drive when
powering down.
Hardware is an old Pentium 3 AJP Neo PC 256mb Memory, CDROM is NEC no 282?

Ubuntu/8.04 (hardy) Firefox/3.0.5
Generally it mostly works pretty well, far better than the old Win98 that it
has replaced. My problem is my only Unix experience is 30years old with a brief
encounter with AIX 18 years ago.
Hope this is not an irrelevant report. It is difficult to tell what is a
bug/feature/or idit user!
