No comments, it isn't a bug anymore. ** Summary changed:
- ACPI hangs boot on Packer Bell MH35 laptop + [SOLVED] ACPI hangs boot on Packer Bell MH35 laptop ** Description changed: When I start Ubuntu 7.10, 8.04 or 8.10 (from live-cd or hd), my computer (Packard Bell MH35-U-060) freezes. If I 1) start with a splash, my computer freezes on the first loading bar (the bouncing one); 2) start with no splash, my computer freezes after "Loading, Please wait..." has been displayed. I can not use my keyboard (I don't see any output) and have to reboot my computer manually. I've downloaded all updates, even the new acpi-support of today. A solution for this error is to add "acpi=off noapic" after the kernel- options, but I have a laptop and my battery is not being recognized. I am not the only person with this error: 1) http://forum.packardbell.com/nl/viewtopic.php?t=27530&sid=34150e8f8149c5be6e2cb221a36a0b87 (dutch!) 2) http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=702329 3) http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=4351066 P.S. Forgive me for my bad English, I'm dutch! + + UPDATE! I had to attach nolapic_timer (nowhere in the manual) instead of + acpi=off noapic. ** Changed in: acpi (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid ** bug changed to question: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acpi/+question/59014 -- [SOLVED] ACPI hangs boot on Packer Bell MH35 laptop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/318152 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
