Yeah, this is really irritating. Debian (hence Ubuntu) already
configures nano with --disable-wrapping-as-root, because wrapping is
known to corrupt files you might commonly edit as root. But those same
arguments apply to many files you might commonly edit as a normal user.
This is especially true since Ubuntu uses nano as its default editor
(for operations like sudo -e, crontab -e, and editor).
We should configure nano with --disable-wrapping, or uncomment “set
nowrap” in /etc/nanorc. nano users can still conveniently wrap text
using ^J without having it forced upon them.
