Thanks for submitting this bug request in efforts to help improve
Ubuntu. If you tried your installed version of 8.04 and The LIVE-CD and
there was no change in behaviour of your old card, and you put in a new
card and it works without issue; I would have to say that unfortunately
even though your other card was approximately 1 year old it must be
bad... I had similar issues with an NVIDIA Card once, I was playing
Battlefiedl 1942 Desert Comat expansion, when all of a suddne my entire
screen looked like a black sandstorm. Put in a replacement NVIDIA card,
no further issues. Through away the bad card. Since your new card is
working fine, I am going to mark this as invalid.
