Hm, I already applied theh magic Python pee for setting the encoding of
stdout [1]. Also, the crash happens with a static string ("used" vs.
"not used"). Do you know how to reproduce this? Do you set any other
LC_* variables, i. e. does "LANG=C locale" print out anything else than
"C", especially for LC_MESSAGES?
