Evince still crashes, but now the error message has become:
"Error: Found a bad table definition on true type definition, trying to
continue..."
This appears several times, and then
"Bogus memory allocation size"

This on evince 2.24.1-0ubuntu1 with libpoppler3 0.8.7-1ubuntu0.1.

xpdf 3.02-1.4ubuntu1 opens the file successfully, but spits out several:
"Error: Couldn't create a font for '2E326eLiberationSans,Bold'"

acroread 8.1.3-0medibuntu0.8.10.2 opens the pdf without errors, i'm
attaching a screenshot of properties->fonts from acroread

** Attachment added: "hierarchy-fonts.png"
   http://launchpadlibrarian.net/21775905/hierarchy-fonts.png

** Changed in: evince (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Confirmed
