this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work,
I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here.
I can confirm the cdrom drive does not show up on the Desktop in Xubuntu
8.04.2, fully updated as of 01-29-2009. However, when I insert a data
cd, it does show up on the desktop. Since the reporter states floppy and
hard drives are shown, this is a valid bug.
