Hello, I have Toshiba Satellite L300-D with Realtek RTL8187b Chip ID 8198. Using Ubuntu 8.10.
With the new kernel update 2.6.27.11 the network card is detected automatically (which has not happened before). And I can confirm the problems mentioned above. I have to fix the rate to 11M to use the internet but it is not the fastest of course.
