Public bug reported:
I use ubuntu 8.10 with a nvidia geforce 7800GS.
The "nvidia x server settings"-programm can't detect my graphics processor.
The information says

but detect the memory (512mb), Bus Type, Bus ID, VBios and IRQ correctly.
Here a few additional infos.
spe...@alpha:~$ glxinfo | grep render
(Standardeingabe):direct rendering: Yes
(Standardeingabe):OpenGL renderer string: unknown board/AGP/SSE2
(Standardeingabe): GL_NVX_conditional_render, GL_SGIS_generate_mipmap,

spe...@alpha:~$ lspci | grep G70
(Standardeingabe):01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G70
[GeForce 7800 GS] (rev a2)
I've tested the nvidia driver version 173, 177 and at the moment 180 - the same
problem.
