There was a security related kernel upgrade today (among other things) which required me to reboot. Since I had rebooted anyway, I decided that I would try running GDM again to see if any of the applied changes had fixed my problem.
It works again now! Looking back through the list of packages that have been upgraded since the last time I tried to run GDM, the only packages that look like they might be related are: language-pack-en, language-pack-en-base, language-pack-gnome-en, language-pack-gnome-en-base, and libc6. I am assuming that the upgrade of one of these packages is indirectly responsible for fixing my gdm problem. I wish I knew for sure which one it was, though. This bug can probably be closed, since I now will not be able to provide any useful debugging information to help diagnose the issue and since it does not appear that anyone else is experiencing the same problem. -- gdm fails to launch gdmgreeter and gdmlogin https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/316101 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
