I'm not intimate with the inner working of Umbrello, but I can guide you on how to get debugging info so that the Umbrello guys can fix the crash. If you install kdesdk-dev and follow the instructions here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace we can get a backtrace of the crash which we can then forward to bugs.kde.org.
