No, this is an issue for me as well. Let's make things clear. Ubuntu's default desktop (Gnome) has a small network connections icon at the upper right (much like M$ Windows does at its lower-right). Normally, that network icon is a little screen. Mine, however, has a small orange exclamation point on its lower right. This indicates the network is not up, even though (as already pointed out) I am on the network right now.
Further, when I run the "Hardware Testing" program from System > Administration, it correctly identifies my network card (a 3com) but also says I am not connected to the network. Again, I am. As the first poster said, when the network connections icon is clicked on, it is greyed out, an indication to me that though Ubuntu knows I'm connected, the Gnome desktop does *not* know that. This is a cosmetic problem mainly, since I can do everything I want to on the web, email, and even using SSH Server to back up files from my Windows box. But I would like Ubuntu's desktop to function as flawlessly as what's underneath it... Thanks for any clues. -- Connected online but NM displays "No network connection" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/243476 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
