Then instead of being an "Examples" folder in the Home directory, it could be a "Welcome" or "Introduction" folder on the Desktop, for more visibility for newcomers, with Introductory files inside, and then more example files in a subdirectory. I'm not sure if removing the file extensions is a good idea.
