Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

Some time ago I started using libflashplayer.so to handle flash movies
without nspluginwrapper. This worked in Jaunty until recently, when I
noticed that Firefox would crash on opening any page with a flash movie
in it - news pages like msn.com, msnbc.com.

I can re-install flashplugin-nonfree, which downloads the flash player
from Adobe, but also installs nspluginwrapper, and don't get the
crashes. Is there an updated libflashplayer.so that could be used
instead? It seemed that some real progress was being made by adobe in
providing a flashplayer (64-bit, even) that didn't need nspluginwrapper.
Have we lost this progress?
