Public bug reported:
I have several workstations (clnt1, clnt2, clntx) with several user
accounts on each of those (usr1, usr2, usry).
If, for example, usr1 on clnt1 changes the main volume to half and then
logs off, for the next user to log in on clnt1 (f.e. usr2), the maximum
"physical" volume is 50% of the nominal output of the soundcard at full
volume in the sound control panel (so if usr2 sets the main volume to
max, he/she will in fact get only half).
In this situation, usr1 in fact "throttles" the maximum volume for usr2.
Usr2 cannot change the volume settings for usr1's account. This can only
be resolved by logging in as usr1, setting volume level to max, log off
and log back on as usr2.
I have wondered to file this as a bug as in fact nothing crashes.
However, for multi-user systems this is undesired behavior.
This behaviour is consistant for all workstations (desktops, laptops)
and therefore seemingly independent of the hardware configuration.
