Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: amsn

When sending a message to someone who is offline (or has offline as status
while logged on) makes aMSN show a crash report. Choosing "Ignore" makes it
possible to continue to chat, but the offline message never gets away.
The only way to send a message to a receiver who has the status set to offline
is if the receiver first sends a message so that a connection establishes.
After that it works to send messages until the connection is lost.

As I recall it, the upstream 0.97.1 version of aMSN doesn't have this
bug. I think it was introduced in upstream 0.97.2 but later fixed.

I attach the detailed info from the crash report from aMSN.

** Affects: amsn (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
