I remember having this problem a while ago. I don't remember how I fixed it but it wasn't just aMSN but the whole desktop. I'm now running 9.04 on the same computer (I think.. ) and it works as expected, so whatever makes the menus disappear it's probably fixed when you switch to 9.04. It is however not a bug in aMSN.
