Hi Drew,
Could you please try this again with Edgy (Ubuntu 6.10)? And perhaps
also do an integrity check on your hard drive. The live CD has the
option to check the CD itself on the first boot menu. It could be a live
CD problem, but the fact that it crashed once during formatting and
later in a different place points at a faulty HD.
I'm closing this bug, but if you see the same problem with a copy of
6.10 final after having checked your drives, please re-open.
