Binary package hint: network-manager-gnome

When i right click on the nm-applet tray icon "Enable Wireless" is grayed out 
as if there was no wireless interfaces. But NetworkManager tries to configures 
my wireless interface nevertheless as seen in this snippet of 
/var/log/daemon.log:
