Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: ubuntu-desktop
Tested on Thinkpad T42 with external monitor, Jaunty install with all
updates as of today.
Boot with external monitor detached. Log in to Gnome. Attach monitor. Execute
"xrandr --output VGA-0 --mode 1280x1024;
xrandr --output VGA-0 --right-of LVDS" or equivalent. Most of the background
image on the external monitor will be corrupt.
As a point of comparison, this works fine under KDE, which successfully
adds the new monitor with correct background, size, etc.
** Affects: ubuntu-meta (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
