I mean to say that obviously the interest here isn't in fixing the bug, it is in eliminating the complaint.
Launchpad was supposed to be a central proxy into every bug open source bug tracking system to eliminate burden on users. All Ubuntu users, can file a bug in launchpad, and just be done with it. Instead, it frustrates them because bugs sit here idol for a set duration and then they "expire" because of some random time value. I set up the steps to reproduce the bug, they are just as valid now as they were then. The amount of programmers that use this site are pretty minimal. Upstream, logically, people don't care about this tracker -- it is an attempt to fork the input into the one they're using. If you want to get the bugs resolved, your best bet it to follow it upstream -- at the source. In this case I would assume freedesktop.
