Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: ubiquity
Jaunty amd64 LiveCD alpha 3 installer fails silently during preparation
stage and returns to the partitioner without any warnings.
The only hint of errors I have found so far is in /var/log/user.log:
Feb 3 18:20:08 ubuntu ubiquity[20590]: switched to page stepReady
Feb 3 18:20:47 ubuntu ubiquity[20590]: debconffilter_done: Summary (current:
Summary)
Feb 3 18:20:47 ubuntu ubiquity[20590]: Step_before = stepReady
Feb 3 18:20:47 ubuntu ubiquity[20590]: progress_loop()
Feb 3 18:20:48 ubuntu ubiquity: /bin/partman-commit: 23: stralign: not
found
Feb 3 18:20:51 ubuntu ubiquity[20590]: debconffilter_done: PartmanCommit
(current: None)
Feb 3 18:20:51 ubuntu ubiquity[20590]: switched to page stepPartAdvanced
The offending statement in /bin/partman-commit is:
RET=$(stralign 50 "$RET" | sed 's/[^ ]//g')
However I noticed commit r122 to partman-base by cwatson that says
"Resynchronise partman-commit with partman, fixing harmless warning
about stralign" which suggests this may not be relevant.
