Chris:

1. Type apt+http://foobar on firefox address bar
2. You'll get an error message: 

An error occurred while loading or saving configuration information for 
firefox. Some of your configuration settings may not work properly.
Bad key or directory name: "/desktop/gnome/url-handlers/apt+http/enabled": `+' 
is an invalid character in key/directory names

Endolith: I think that's the problem,  the '+ is an invalid character'
message makes me think so.
