Public bug reported:

Sometimes when booting, the sound hardware isn't detected (or not
properly initialised?), and I don't have any audio. Usually rebooting
helps, but not always. I'm running an up-to-date Intrepid Ibex amd64 on
a board with an nVidia chipset and a Realtek ALC1200 audio controller.
This is what the kernel says on booting when the sound doesn't work:

[ 12.777106] HDA Intel 0000:00:07.0: power state changed by ACPI to D0
[   12.777117] HDA Intel 0000:00:07.0: PCI INT A -> Link[LAZA] -> GSI 21
(level, low) -> IRQ 21
[ 12.777171] HDA Intel 0000:00:07.0: setting latency timer to 64
[   12.809774] hda-intel: no codecs initialized
[   12.809832] HDA Intel 0000:00:07.0: PCI INT A disabled
