On an intel motherboard (chipset 845G) and Pentium Celeron. An updated
version of Kubuntu 6.10. I follow the ubuntuguide about resolution with
intel graphic chipset (1.11.10, address:
http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu_Edgy#How_to_Correct_the_Graphics_Resolution_.28Intel.29)

The howto given in ubuntuguide doesn't have any effect. The resolution
stay blocked on 1280 1024 (my goal is to have a 1680 1050 one). Same
result when I try to add the "sudo nano 915resolution 5a 1680 1050 24"
in the /etc/rc.local file (last step of the procedure).

The new resolution is effectively recorded in /etc/X11/xorg.local.

I try to modify the /etc/default/915resolution (after I erase the
modification of /etc/rc.conf), giving the same arguments: 5a, 1680, 1050
and 24 (this manipulation is recommended in another howto). But at this
moment, the screen become black when the session manager start and also
when the session is initiated (I can type the user name and password,
the session start, I hear the sound of beginning, but I don't see
anything).

Does somebody help? Thanks.
