Eth0 ceased to work after kernel upgrade: ubuntu 8.10 64bits on a Thinkpad T61
Intel Corporation 82566MM Gigabit Network Connection (rev 03)
tested kernels: 2.6.27.8 _ 2.6.27.10 _ 2.6.27.11
did not test with 2.6.27.7 ...
had to revert to 2.6.24.21 for eth0 to start working again.
i got this information on the last known working kernel:
$ ethtool -i eth0
driver: e1000
version: 7.3.20-k2-NAPI
firmware-version: 0.3-0
bus-info: 0000:00:19.0
eth0 doesn't work (doesnt react when eth cable plugged in), yet appears in
ifconfig and lspci
I can see that from the very early stages of bootup the two eth leds light,
become still and hang up in that state which may point to a driver issue.
