Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: ubiquity
I have just installed Jaunty Alpha 4 on my laptop. The touchpad wouldn't
work in the installed system or the liveCD. It turned out that the
package xserver-xorg-input-synaptics was not installed, and installing
it fixed the problem. But surely the package should have been installed
in the first place?
I'm not sure if ubiquity is to blame here, or if a problem during the
liveCD startup prevented the detection of the touchpad (I restarted the
liveCD a couple of times to double-check, so I think it's entirely
reproducible), or if the package is simply not included with the default
install.
** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
