I just built a PC using the Intel DP43TF board. I don't have the same problem as the original poster but have some observations that might be helpful.
The original BIOS firmware on my board was version 0051 dated August 4, 2008. That version would not boot Ubuntu 8.04 or 8.10. Ubuntu 8.04 dropped to to the "initramfs" prompt in BusyBox, possibly what the OP is now reporting with Kubuntu 8.10. Ubuntu 8.10 crashed with error codes that I didn't write down. I updated the BIOS firmware to version 0074 dated January 9, 2009. Ubuntu 8.04 still won't boot, but 8.10 boots and installed with no obvious problem. I haven't started actively using Ubuntu 8.10 on this machine but almost everything I've tried seems to work fine. The only problem I've noticed is that Totem crashes when I try to play an audio file (Rhythmbox and the Nautilus preview work fine with the same file). -- Fails to boot on Intel DP43TF motherboard https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/292663 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
