Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kvm

Hi,

my host system is amd64 running in 32bit:
Linux roessner1 2.6.28-6-server #17-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 30 16:24:23 UTC 2009
i686 GNU/Linux

Release (daily updated):
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu jaunty (development branch)
Release: 9.04
Codename: jaunty

Running 4 intrepid guests. A config looks like this:
vdekvm \
  -m 512M \
  -smp 2 \
  -cpu athlon \
  -name www \
  -boot c \
  -drive file=/dev/mapper/vg01-kvm3--disk,if=virtio,boot=on \
  -net nic,vlan=0,macaddr=00:16:3e:bf:e6:be,model=virtio \
  -net nic,vlan=1,macaddr=00:16:3e:bf:e6:bd,model=virtio \
  -net vde,vlan=0,sock=/var/run/vde2/vde0.ctl \
  -net vde,vlan=1,sock=/var/run/vde2/vde1.ctl \
  -k de \
  -vnc 127.0.0.1:3 \
  -monitor tcp:127.0.0.1:2323,server,nowait \
  -serial none \
  -parallel none \
  -localtime \
  -daemonize > /dev/null 2>&1

All four guests did run ok for several months, until I started to use
rkhunter in all instances. I configured this tool to do hidden_procs
search. The load is goin high extremly, so the disk IO seems to be a
problem. I changed the NICE value in the cron scripts to 19 (lowest
prio). Rebooted the server and waited to this morning.

I attach all dmesg files. So you can see many kernel problems. Only
jaunty itself seems to be happy :-)

** Affects: kvm (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
