Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager
Ubuntu 8.10 kernel: 2.6.27-9.19 network-manager: 0.7 In Intrepid Ibex, I cannot connect to a wpa-psk network with hidden ssid, using the following method: 1. Select menu option "Connect to a hidden network" 2. Specify the Network name (ssid) 3. Select "WPA2 Personal" (there is no "WPA Personal" in the list) 4. Specify password 5. Connect The Network manager tries to connect but fails, and asks for a password, again and again. I found the same problem in Ubuntu Answers: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/56033 and a workaround at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1010650, but I found nothing similar in Ubuntu launchpad. I guess, there are 2 problems: 1. If I check the option "show password", my password is substituted by a hex string 2. the connect settings are modifed. I can watch the settings in the gconf-editor (System/Networking/Connections) NM-Manager writes group [wep40,wep104,tkip,ccmp] key-mgmt wpa-psk name 802-11-wireless-security pairwise [tkip, ccmp] proto [wpa, rsn] If I change the settings to: group [tkip] key-mgmt wpa-psk name 802-11-wireless-security pairwise [tkip] proto [wpa] and reboot the system, then it is possible to connect to this hidden network. ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Intrepid: Network-Manager overwrites WPA settings https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/326861 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
