Public bug reported:
I believe it should be as easy to sync a cell phone or PDA in ubuntu as
it is in windows.
I understand that synce and its associated tools are not official ubuntu
packages, but surely they should be.

In all cases it is tremendously difficult to get them to talk to
ubunntu, and sadly for the linux crusade mind numbingly easy to do it in
windows. There are lots of "how to" guides that all offer the hope it
can work if you incant the right spells, but lots of these contradict
each other or pain don't work when done precisely, even form a brand new
ubuntu install.
Currently it appears that ubuntus packages for these features are out of
date.
