Public bug reported:

Hello,

i have a Toshiba A300 laptop and up till recently, I had no problems,
when i plugged in my Nokia 6300 cell phone and selected "Data Storage"
mode on the device. The phone used to appear in my system as an ordinary
USB mass storage device. However, following the recent kernel upgrade,
it no longer works. The cell phone displays a message "trasferring data"
and nothing seems to be happening on the computer's side.

output of uname -a:

Linux bodhisattwa 2.6.27-11-generic #1 SMP Thu Jan 29 19:24:39 UTC 2009
i686 GNU/Linux

dmesg attached, lspci will follow in no time.
