I was having this problem and I'm pretty sure it was just lack of space
on /boot. I'm running software RAID so I had to put my /boot on a
separate partition and I'm afraid I made it a little too small (only
92mb). I had about 40% free, but it still wasn't able to update
properly. For those of you having this problem, please post a `df -h`
and confirm the amount of free space you have on /boot.

Does anyone know if there's a setting somewhere that would tell apt to
only keep a certain number of kernels?
