There is an indirect security risk in that unsecured FTP connections
might be used, thus letting passwords become visible.

Note that SSL/TLS is known as FTPS, and Ubuntu presently does not have
an FTPS server.

Sites using SFTP are actually using an SSH-based tool, although at least
one FTP server supports SFTP (and it also supports FTPS).
