Hi!

I have precisely the same problem as Greg Michalec with latest intrepid
and backports enabled. I run an IBM T42 on an unencrypted network. I
also had no problems in Hardy and I don't think it's a driver issue,
although the driver is certainly also shaky. (Issuing a sudo iwconfig
ath0 rate 11M as suggested in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/278800 took care of the driver
shakyness.)
