Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: sbcl

Whenever I try to launch SBCL from within a directory whose name
contains a UTF-8, non-ASCII character, say, ~/Übung, it crashes
immediately before even displaying a prompt. This also happens when
trying to run SBCL from within Emacs via SLIME, if the name of Emacs'
working directory contains a non-ASCII character.

I am running Ubuntu Edgy. The version number of the »sbcl« package is
1:0.9.14.0-2. A transcript of running the »sbcl« command follows.
