Public bug reported: Binary package hint: sbcl
Whenever I try to launch SBCL from within a directory whose name contains a UTF-8, non-ASCII character, say, ~/Übung, it crashes immediately before even displaying a prompt. This also happens when trying to run SBCL from within Emacs via SLIME, if the name of Emacs' working directory contains a non-ASCII character. I am running Ubuntu Edgy. The version number of the »sbcl« package is 1:0.9.14.0-2. A transcript of running the »sbcl« command follows. --- This is SBCL 0.9.14, an implementation of ANSI Common Lisp. More information about SBCL is available at <http://www.sbcl.org/>. SBCL is free software, provided as is, with absolutely no warranty. It is mostly in the public domain; some portions are provided under BSD-style licenses. See the CREDITS and COPYING files in the distribution for more information. internal error #31 SC: 14, Offset: 0 0x0000c342: other immediate [0], unknown type (0x42): #\m-C SC: 14, Offset: 2 $1= 0x090838e7: other pointer fatal error encountered in SBCL pid 8629(tid 3085280944): internal error too early in init, can't recover LDB monitor ldb> ** Affects: sbcl (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed ** Description changed: Binary package hint: sbcl Whenever I try to launch SBCL from within a directory whose name contains a UTF-8, non-ASCII character, say, ~/Übung, it crashes immediately before even displaying a prompt.
