I have just tested Alsa 1.0.18a with a fedora 11 live CD.
I was particularly interested by this fix (included in 1.0.18a) :

Thanks to this fix all people with Realtek ALC268 can enjoy their digital mics 
(integrated in their laptop).

This digital mic problem is the last thing that doesn't work with Realtek 
ALC268 codecs. See this bug :
