I actually tried this at some point, to no avail. I forget exactly how it failed.
I also tried running MSTSC on WinXP and Win2K virtual machines under VirtualBox. Interestingly, I had the same problem that I have with rdesktop. This led me to suspect a problem with something in Ubuntu rather than with rdesktop itself, however I don't know enough about all of the dependencies to say where to look or whether this makes sense. All of these problems occur on my desktop. rdesktop runs fine on my laptop, which also runs Hardy.
