Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vbetool

HW: HP nw8440 laptop with ATI Technologies Inc M56P [Radeon Mobility X1600]
SW: Kubuntu/Jaunty, up-to-date, using FOSS ATI driver

I wanted to contribute to suspend testing, therefore I hav run the script
provided here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/SuspendResumeTesting

Laptop suspends fine, it also auto-resumes after 10 sec timeout, but I
end up with blank screen. As keyboard is working (CapsLock turns LED
on/off), I have tried to switch consoles (Ctrl-Alt-F1 / Ctrl-Alt-F7),
which got me back to my KDE desktop (properly protected by lock).

CPU load was high (1 core was 100%), generated by "vbetool" process. If
I have continued the test (with next suspend cycle), it failed to
suspend. If I kill the "vbetool" process (which requires another console
switch to get back to normal KDE desktop), then next suspend will work
and resume will behave the same (blank screen, console-switch needed,
have to kill vbetool, another console-switch needed).

It looks like this "vbetool" is causing problems to my system.

** Affects: vbetool (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
