I suspect that you had a similar problem to what I had yesterday and the
day before. Basically compiz crashed because some of the compiz modules
had been updated on my local mirror and others had not (and not all the
proper dependencies had been marked as such), so the old comiz (ABI
version 2008something) tried to use a new module (ABI version
200902something), and therefore it crashed. The error messages showed up
in .xsession-errors in my home directory. The new compiz came the next
day and the problems disappeared (it was already in the respository, but
wasn't installed since something it depended upon wasn't there yet).

So my guess is that this was simply an artifact of the development
process.

I'm closing this bug, since it should be okay now... Please reopen if
this is still a problem.
