I seem to experience the same problem as Annoyed Ape. I am running Ubuntu 8.10. My wired network connection dies when transferring large amounts of data from a network samba share (WinXP share) - network just stops working, pinging the other computers just gets me the "unreachable" result. The problem is fixed by running "ifconfig eth1 down" and "ifconfig eth1 up".
If would guess that the amount of data transferred is not the cause - I am able to stream large video files without problems (i.e. I can watch a 9GB movie without problems). On the other hand if I try to directly copy the same file to my Ubuntu computer (at speed ~25MB/s) the network will usually die somewhere between 200MB and 5GB of data transferred. If there is any way I can help to trace this bug, please feel free to ask. -- network dies with large amount of high speed traffic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296162 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
